Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has reflected on Udinese’s narrow loss to Juventus last night, Afrik Foot reports.

The 26-year-old missed the AFCON 2025 tournament as Nigeria’s Eric Chelle didn’t select him.

While he’s been getting regular minutes at his club side, he wasn’t able to keep a clean sheet against the Old Ladies at the Bluenergies Stadium last night.

In his post-match interview, the German-born Nigerian bemoaned his team’s missed chances and urged them to do better.

“Today there was an opportunity to score at least one point, but Juventus are a very strong team.

Now we have to think about the next game.
I’m happy with my performance, but in the end what matters is that the team scores points
,” Okoye concluded.

Okoye has kept five clean sheets in 21 games for Udinese this season, conceding 26 goals and saving one of the six penalties he’s faced.

He’s now made 69 appearances for the Little Zebras, the most of any club he’s played for in his career.

With Stanley Nwabali out of contract and without a club, Okoye is primed to stake a claim for his return to Eric Chelle’s side in the coming International break for the first time since last July.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were scheduled to take part in a four-nation tournament including Jordan, Iran, and Costa Rica, but conflicts in the Middle East have raised concerns about the safety of the players.
