Man United-linked Osimhen set for club change? Chelle’s comment fuels speculation

Published on by

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has fueled Victor Osimhen‘s transfer speculation following his comments ahead of Nigeria’s friendly games against Poland and Portugal, Afrik Foot reports.

The Franco-Malian tactician recently oversaw back-to-back Unity Cup triumphs for the Green and Whites, commanding a scintillating 3-0 win over the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica at the Valley in London.

Chelle was without several first team players like Ndidi, Lookman, Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze who recently buried his mother.

However, new faces like Femi Azeez, Arthur Okonkwo, Kenneth Igboke, and Chibuike Nwaiwu showed they’re more than capable of representing the Super Eagles at the highest level when called upon.

Eric Chelle hints at Osimhen’s Galatasaray exit

Nigeria will play against Poland on Wednesday at Stadion Narodowy before taking on Portugal next week as both nations finalise their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament.

Chelle confirmed he’ll be without several players, largely due to visa problems. However, he mentioned Ademola Lookman will be absent due to fatigue issues, and Victor Osimhen asked to be left out so his mind can be concentrated on a transfer he’s about to conclude.

“We miss two players because Victor Osimhen maybe he is about to change club, so I prefer he stays at home because if he plays and is not at 100 percent is not good,” said the coach.

“For Lookman he is very tired and Atletico ask us to excuse him.”

Manchester United and Juventus alert

As per Football Italia, Juventus previously made contact with Napoli for Osimhen, but Di Laurentiis failed to sell, considering they were still burned by losing Gonzalo Higuain to their arch rivals and have since refused to sell top stars to the Old Ladies.

Galatasaray defeated Juventus in the Champions League play-offs of the just-concluded season, and Osimhen revealed he was so close to a Turin move, but for the ‘powers that be’.

“If it’s possible for me to come to Italy, Juventus would be a club I’d enjoy playing for a lot,” the former Napoli striker said per Futbol Arena.

“However, I’m very happy at Galatasaray right now. I love Galatasaray a lot. I’m having a great time. I’m sweating for a club I’m deeply attached to from the heart.

“Of course, what happens in the future is unknown. 90% of players in the world would want to play for Juventus. I could say, why not.”

Meanwhile, Caught Offside reports that Manchester United want more strength in attack despite Sesko’s decent numbers.

The Red Devils are looking to offload Joshua Orobosa Zirkzee and already have a list of options to replace the former Bayern Munich striker.

Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta is viewed as a low-risk option to compete with Sesko for minutes at Old Trafford, but Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen is viewed as the dream striker that could make Carrick’s men title contenders again.

However, it’ll cost a lot to bring him to the Theater of Dreams, considering they still have major positions to fill in midfield following Casemiro’s departure.
