Marseille fire Roberto De Zerbi eight days after signing Tochukwu Nnadi

Super Eagles midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi is set to get a new coach at Marseille, as the club has fired Roberto De Zerbi.

Nnadi just completed his transfer from Belgian side Zulte Waregem to Marseille on transfer deadline day, but he has not kicked a ball for them yet.

The 22-year-old midfielder only started training with his new teammates some days ago, but now there is a sharp change at the club that might even affect him.

This comes as Marseille confirmed the sacking of coach De Zerbi. The Italian tactician had been in charge of the team since 2024 and did a decent job in his first season, finishing second behind PSG.

But this season, they have not been at their best. They currently sit fourth in Ligue 1, 10 points behind second-place Lens and 12 behind league leaders PSG.

Throughout the season, there has been pressure on De Zerbi to perform better in the league, but it came to a head on Sunday when they suffered a 5-0 defeat to rivals PSG.

Marseille and PSG have a very strong rivalry, and that defeat caused a stir in the boardroom that made them eventually decide to part ways with De Zerbi.

How Will Roberto De Zerbi’s Sacking Affect Tochukwu Nnadi At Marseille?

Tochukwu Nnadi’s switch from Zulte Waregem to Marseille is a big move for him, and naturally, he will have to prove his worth from day one.

It is unknown if Roberto De Zerbi had a hand in his acquisition, but if the Italian was involved, it means he actually likes Nnadi.

On the other hand, Marseille are expected to sign a new coach soon. Usually, when a new coach arrives, he gives opportunities to new players to prove themselves and show their quality.

This might be a chance for Nnadi to prove his worth and break into the first team at the Stade Velodrome.

However, if the new coach does not like him or he does not fit into the philosophy, Nnadi might spend a lot of time on the bench, potentially hindering his development.

As it stands, Nnadi’s future hangs in the balance, but things should become clearer in a few weeks.
