Super Eagles head coach Eric Sekhou Chelle has been linked with a move to Olympiqe de Marseille following Roberto De Zerbi’s exit, Afrik Foot reports.
The news comes after the Franco-Malian tactician revealed he’d love to coach a club in one of Europe’s top-five leagues, with Real Madrid as his specific target.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed Marseille parted ways with Roberto De Zerbi on mutual terms, on the back of their 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in Le Classique.
Eric Chelle to replace De Zerbi at Marseille?
The Super Eagles head coach was seen at Marseille’s Velodrome Stadium a few days ago, although many believed he was there to support one of the Nigerian players, Tochukwu Nnadi.

“He’s a player who plays a simple game, very aggressive on the ball carrier,” Chelle about the 22-year-old.
“He’s a player who plays simply; his strength is his ability to harass the ball carrier over 15-20 meters.
“He’s capable of winning the ball back from opponents’ feet. He’s not someone who will cut off passing lanes; he’s very aggressive.
“There isn’t this type of player at OM today; he’s not a player who will dictate the tempo of the match.
“Nnadi will bring that aggression to the midfield. An atypical profile at 1.76m, which will offer a range of options in the Marseille squad,” Chelle concluded.

However, there might have been undertones to Chelle’s trip to Marseille. Nigerian journalist Ojora Babatunde, revealed that the Super Eagles coach is in the line of consideration by the one-time UEFA Champions League winners.
“Nigeria head coach, Eric Sékou Chelle has emerged as a potential candidate for Olympique de Marseille after being recommended by intermediaries in recent days,” he wrote on his X page.

Whether or not a concrete offer will be made towards the former RC Lens defender is currently unknown at the minute, but the Nigeria head coach is currently one of the most sought-after managers at the moment.
