Millwall make key decision regarding Femi Azeez’s Premier League move

Millwall have intensified their efforts to keep Super Eagles forward Femi Azeez after rejecting an offer from a Premier League club, Afrik Foot reports.

The 24-year-old scored 11 goals and provided seven assists for the Lions, and was included in the EFL Championship Team of the Year.

Millwall narrowly missed out on promotion to the English top-flight, finishing a point behind second-placed Ipswich Town before losing to Hull City in the semi-final of the EFL Championship play-offs.

Femi Azeez: Millwall reject £20m offer from Ipswich Town

As per Football Insider, Kieran McKenna’s side submitted a £20m bid for Femi Azeez, which was in turn rejected by Millwall.

However, the report revealed the reason they rejected the offer isn’t that they want to keep the player at the Den, but because they believe he’s worth more than what the Tractor Boys submitted.

Millwall are holding out for an extra ten million pounds over what Ipswich offered, as they believe the age and ability of the one-cap Nigerian winger command more money.

Ipswich Town are looking to strengthen their squad this summer after returning to the English Premier League.

McKenna’s side were demoted to the EFL Championship after gaining promotion in the 2024/2025 Premier League season.

They’re looking to avoid such a scenario again with their pursuit of Azeez. However, they might face competition as Aston Villa are monitoring the situation.

Back in March, the fleet-footed winger revealed he wants to get the best out of his career by working as hard as he can, hinting he fancies a move to the English top-flight.

“I put in the work and I want to reach my potential, but also surpass my potential,” he told Sky Sports.

“It is exciting to think what could happen, but I don’t want to look too far ahead because if you look too far ahead you can kind of live in a fantasy land.

“My mind and my mental state is just to keep grounded, keep working hard and just keep improving every day. That’s the main thing.”

Wayne Rooney tipped Azeez to make the Premier League jump a few weeks back, and it is looking increasingly likely that the switch will happen this summer.
