Moses Simon transfer: Ligue 1 underachievers look to explosive winger for inspiration

Ligue 1 side Rennes are the latest to indicate an interest in Moses Simon

The Nigeria international, currently away on international duty, has shone for Nantes, lifting the Canaries above the relegation zone. As a result, he has been the subject of transfer speculation, with the likes of Marseille and Everton lurking.

Simon has previously declared himself settled in France, however, and is keen to have consistent playing time wherever he plays next season. This, according to reports, has led the trail to run cold on the Marseille front, and in the last week newly promoted Paris FC have also thrown their hats into the ring.

Is Rennes an attractive transfer destination for Moses Simon?

Rennes finished the 2024/25 Ligue 1 season in 12th, a place and five points ahead of Nantes. It has been quite the fall from grace for a club that, only the season before, played in the Europa League.

Simon, who is entering the final year of his contract with Nantes, is admired by the hierarchy at Roazhon Park, according to Ouest-France. However, his €15 million valuation, while modest, may prove a stumbling block in negotiations between the clubs.

For the winger, who turns 30 in July, this may well represent his final chance at a big contract.
