Nigerian forward Muhamed Tijani has said he is excited by the prospect of playing under Wayne Rooney at Plymouth Argyle.
The 23-year-old will be playing in the English Championship next season, having joined Plymouth Argyle from Czech club Slavia Prague on a season-long loan earlier this week.
Tijani moved to Slavia Prague only a year ago after spending the previous four years at Banik Ostrava but quickly established himself as a key player at the club.
The former Nigeria U20 star scored four goals in all competitions last season, two of which came in the UEFA Europa League, as Slavia Prague finished second in the Czech topflight.
Muhamed Tijani wants to score goals under Wayne Rooney
Opening up on his move to Plymouth Argyle, Tijani said he has always dreamed of playing in the Premier League and, therefore, aims to help the club to gain promotion.
“It feels amazing being here, I am happy about it. I have a dream of playing in the Premier League and this is one of the ways to go there. When I heard that Wayne Rooney is the new head coach, I was like: ‘Yeah, I’m going to go there!’” Tijani told Argyle TV.

“Whilst growing up, I watched some of his games. He was excellent, so learning from him will be a great experience for me.
“It’s my first time in England, and I can’t wait to take up the challenge… I’m the type of player who always wants to win and score goals. You should expect goals and wins.”
Meanwhile, Plymouth Argyle manager Rooney rates Tijani very highly, having described the Nigerian forward as a player “with good pedigree but is also young and keen to improve.”
The Greens finished just one place above the Championship relegation zone last season and will be hoping that Tijani’s addition will make them more competitive in the coming campaign.
