Nigeria captain, Wilfred Ndidi has returned to his club after the conclusion of the AFCON 2025 third-place playoff, with Beşiktaş providing an update on the injury that cut short his involvement at the tournament.

The 29-year-old picked up the issue during the Super Eagles’ quarter-final win over Algeria and, although he served a suspension in the semi-final, he was unable to recover in time for the bronze-medal match against Egypt.

Beşiktaş have now confirmed that the midfielder travelled back to Istanbul after the tournament for further evaluation. In a medical update, the Turkish club disclosed that Ndidi was diagnosed with a hamstring strain accompanied by internal bleeding in his left thigh. Treatment has already begun, with the focus on recovery rather than rushing him back into action after a demanding international period.
