Nigeria-eligible Italian talent responds to Juventus links

Record Serie A winners Juventus have registered their interest in Nigeria-eligible Italian right-back Michael Kayode, Afrik Foot reports.

The 21-year-old has been one of the best full-backs in the English Premier League since joining Brentford from Fiorentina in January 2025, and has become famous for his long throws.

Kayode’s market value has risen and he’s been linked with a return to Italy, but the youngster isn’t as keen on joining the Old Ladies.

Born in Italy to Nigerian parents, Kayode’s recent comments recently shut the door to a Super Eagles call-up in the future. While he’s still featuring for Gli Azzuri’s U-21 side, he’s patiently waiting for a call-up to the Italian senior team.

Quizzed about Juventus’ interest, the Brentford right-back admitted he’s flattered, but the Premier League suits him more.

“I know [about Juventus’ interest], and it’s an honour,” he told Tuttosport.

“This is a fantastic world, where I feel so well. Brentford have a fantastic project. I was lucky to find this club, which we hope to bring to Europe in the last two games of the season.

“The Premier League is the Disneyland of World football. It’s all perfect, and I’m so happy here.

“There isn’t a more competitive league in terms of structure, quality of play, and players.”

Kayode started his career in the Bianconeri academy, but was let go before he could break into the senior team.

“I have no regrets about that period, even if they [Juventus] rejected me,” he said.

“They saw something in me, and I enjoyed every year in Vinovo. It was a blow to be let go, but I always picked myself back up. I learned so much there until I was 14.

“Honestly, I’m not thinking about my return to Italy. I just want to do well, improve at Brentford and continue developing at this club,” the Italian concluded.

Brentford have hopes of qualifying for a European competition for the first time in their history. They’re currently 8th on the English Premier League table, two points behind Brighton and Hove Albion.
