Augustin Eguavoen Gets Super Falcons Job

After the Super Falcons’ disappointing performance at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the Nigeria Football Federation sacked coach Justin Madugu, but they failed to confirm a replacement until yesterday.

Former Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen has been appointed as the interim coach of the Super Falcons. This is a shocking move from the NFF, as Eguavoen has never coached a female team. He has a big job in his hands, with his first task being a do-or-die fixture. Read more here.

Ballon d’Or Nigeria Snub

French Football announced its 2026 shortlist for the various Ballon d’Or awards on Tuesday. Some of the top awards include the best male player, best female player, and best rising stars.

But interestingly, no single Nigerian player made the cut. This marks the first time in three years that a Nigerian would not make any of the categories. Read more here.
