5 Nigerian wonderkids to sign in FC 27 career mode

Published on by

Nigerian players have a strong history in football games, Afrik-Foot reports.

Names such as Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Wilfred Ndidi are easy choices when you need a proven player. Career Mode is different, though. The fun starts when you find a young player, give him regular football and turn him into a star.

That makes the ratings a useful starting point for a Career Mode shortlist. Overall rating matters because it tells you how highly EA rates a player at the start. The individual numbers matter too. Pace can make a winger dangerous. Shooting can turn a young striker into a regular scorer. Physical strength and defending can make a centre-back useful much earlier.

Age also changes the value of a signing. A 19-year-old with a good rating gives you more seasons to develop the player. A teenager with strong pace can become a cheap weapon for a club that does not have a large transfer budget.

We checked the Nigerian players in EA’s FC 27 database and limited this list to players who are 21 or younger as of August 2026. Based mainly on their FC 27 ratings, these are the five names we would target.

5. Vince Osuji

Age: 20
Position: Centre-back
FC 27 OVR: 66
Pace: 78
Defending: 64
Physical: 74

Vince Osuji is the defensive pick on this list. EA gives the 20-year-old a 66 overall rating, but his physical numbers make him more interesting than that number first suggests. His 78 pace is particularly useful for a young centre-back.

Osuji started his senior journey in Nigeria before moving from De Cardinal Football Academy to Swedish club Kalmar FF in April 2024. He played 16 matches for Kalmar and scored once. Club Brugge then signed him in January 2025 on a contract that runs until 2029.

His FC 27 profile gives him 64 defending and 74 physical ability. That combination gives a Career Mode manager a defender who can compete physically without being too slow when an opponent sends a ball behind the defence. Club Brugge also used him with Club NXT as he continued his development in Belgium.

Osuji is a long-term project rather than a player to build the defence around on day one. His age and pace make the gamble worthwhile.

4. Uchenna Ogundu

Age: 20
Position: Striker
FC 27 OVR: 66
Pace: 92
Shooting: 64
Dribbling: 59
Physical: 64

Uchenna Ogundu is the explosive option. His overall rating is only 66, but one number jumps off the FC 27 card: 92 pace.

That makes him one of the fastest young Nigerian players in EA’s database. A Career Mode manager can use that speed to attack space, chase through balls and stretch a defence.

Ogundu started at Diamond Football Academy in Nigeria before moving to Sanliurfaspor in Turkey in 2024. He made 19 competitive appearances for the club and scored six goals. Alanyaspor then gave him a chance in the Turkish top flight. He scored twice and provided two assists in 17 league appearances during the 2025-26 season.

Augsburg signed him in February 2026 on a contract until June 2031. The German club described him as a player who can operate as a centre-forward, attacking midfielder or winger.

His 92 pace gives him a clear role in a Career Mode squad. He may not be your first-choice striker at the start, but he can become a dangerous substitute and a useful starter against high defensive lines.

3. Ebenezer Akinsanmiro

Age: 21
Position: Midfielder
FC 27 OVR: 67
Pace: 73
Shooting: 67
Passing: 67
Dribbling: 68
Defending: 61

Ebenezer Akinsanmiro gets the midfield spot because his FC 27 numbers are balanced. EA gives him a 67 overall rating, with no major weakness across his main outfield attributes.

His football journey started with Remo Stars in Nigeria. He later attracted attention during the Viareggio Tournament in Italy, where he scored three goals for Alex Transfiguration’s academy selection in 2022. Inter Milan signed him in January 2023.

He made his Serie A debut for Inter against Lecce on February 25, 2024. He then gained senior experience at Sampdoria before spending the 2025-26 season with Pisa.

Akinsanmiro also earned his first Nigeria senior cap against Egypt on December 16, 2025. In August 2026, he moved to Monza from Inter on a temporary deal with an obligation to buy under certain conditions.

His 67 shooting, 67 passing and 68 dribbling give him a useful base. He is not a specialist in one area. That makes him a smart squad player who can grow with a team.

2. Zadok Yohanna

Age: 19
Position: Right winger
FC 27 OVR: 67
Pace: 84
Shooting: 63
Passing: 58
Dribbling: 70

Zadok Yohanna is one of the most exciting young names on the list. EA rates him at 67 overall, with 84 pace and 70 dribbling. Those numbers fit the profile of a winger who can attack defenders and create space.

His story is also remarkable. Yohanna was born in Bauchi State and started at Ikon Allah Football Academy. He moved to AIK in Sweden in 2025 and quickly broke into senior football.

He produced five goals and four assists in 18 appearances for AIK across league and cup competition. Brighton & Hove Albion then agreed a deal reported at £21.5 million for the teenager. Brighton saw enough in a player with only a small amount of senior experience to commit major money to him.

His FC 27 rating is not yet elite, but 84 pace and 70 dribbling make him a very attractive Career Mode signing. He is also the kind of player who can fit a counter-attacking system from the first season.

1. George Ilenikhena

Age: 20
Position: Striker
FC 27 OVR: 72
Pace: 79
Shooting: 70
Passing: 56
Dribbling: 71
Physical: 62

George Ilenikhena is our No. 1 pick because EA gives him the highest FC 27 overall rating among the qualifying players.

The 20-year-old striker has a 72 overall rating, 79 pace, 70 shooting and 71 dribbling. Those numbers give him a much stronger starting point than the other young players on this list.

Ilenikhena was born in Lagos and moved to France when he was three. He developed through the Antony Football Evolution and Amiens systems before joining Antwerp. He later moved to Monaco, where he scored against Barcelona in the Champions League in September 2024.

His most memorable European moment came earlier, when he scored in the 92nd minute against Barcelona to help Antwerp win 3-2. That goal made him the club’s first scorer in a Champions League victory over the Spanish giants.

Al-Ittihad then signed him from Monaco in February 2026 in a reported €33 million deal. The move also placed him in a squad that included Karim Benzema.

In Career Mode, the appeal is simple. Ilenikhena starts with the best overall rating among these five, while his 79 pace, 70 shooting and 71 dribbling already give him a useful attacking base.

If the goal is to find one Nigerian youngster who can become the centre of a long-term rebuild, Ilenikhena is the first name on the list.
