Fenerbache manager Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on Nigerian striker David Okereke for achieving an extraordinary milestone.

The talented forward etched his name in football history by becoming the first player to score against three different clubs while they were managed by Mourinho.

This extraordinary milestone was reached during Fenerbahçe's 3-1 triumph over Okereke's Gaziantep at the Ülker Stadium Şükrü Saracoğlu on Monday, where the 27-year-old netted a consolation goal for the visitors.

Speaking in the aftermath of the game, as reported by TRT Spor, the Portuguese tactician highlighted Okereke's unique accomplishment.

“He is the first player to score against all three teams that I have managed. He scored against my teams while playing for Venezia, Cremonese, and Gaziantep FK,” Mourinho said, acknowledging Okereke’s consistency and skill across different leagues.

Okereke's career has taken him across several clubs in Italy and Belgium, including a notable stint with Club Brugge. In July 2022, he signed a three-year contract with Cremonese for a reported fee of €10 million.

Still contracted to Cremonese, he was loaned to Torino and is currently on another loan at Gaziantep.

In the ongoing campaign, he has made eight appearances for the Turkish side, starting six of them. He has scored three goals, provided one assist, and averages 73 minutes per game.

A former Nigeria U2-3 international, Okereke was called up by manager Gernot Rohr to train with the Super Eagles ahead of an international friendly against Egypt in March 2019.

Although included in the squad, he remained a non-playing substitute during the match.
