Although most transfer markets are closed, there are still sme movements going on, especially in Nigeria. There are some movements in and around the national teams, especially the Super Falcons.

Super Falcons Coaching Update

Earlier in the week, news broke that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had decided to appoint Augustine Eguavoen as the new interim Super Falcons coach.

He replaces Justin Madugu, who got sacked after Nigeria’s disappointing 2026 Africa Cup of Nations campaign. They were knocked out by Cameroon in the quarterfinal.

Eguavoen has a big job in his hands, as he has to lead the Super Falcons through the first round of Olympic qualifiers against Comoros last month.

Nigeria will face them over two legs, and the winner will then lock horns with the winner of the game between Morocco and Congo. Ahead of those games, Eguavoen’s assistants have now been put together. You can read more here.

Calvin Bassey to Serie A?

Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has been subject to a lot of speculation in recent months. The 26-year-old versatile defender’s contract will expire at the end of the current season, but there is no indication that Fulham have opened talks to extend his contract.
