The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season has ended with Remo Stars emerging champions for the first time in their history.

At the other end of the table, Lobi Stars, Sunshine Stars, Akwa United and Heartland were all relegated to the Nigeria National League (NNL).

This season also produced standout individual performers. Here is Afrik-Foot’s NPFL Team of the Season.

Serge Adeniyi Obassa – Goalkeeper (Remo Stars)

Unarguably the best goalkeeper this season, Obassa helped Remo Stars win the league with commanding performances in his debut top-flight campaign.

The Benin Republic shot-stopper was a rock in goal, helping Remo concede just 31 goals in 38 matches, and also kept 15 clean sheets as the club marched to their first title.

Waliu Ojetoye – Right Back (Ikorodu City)

Captain of a youthful Ikorodu City team that thrilled fans with exciting football and plenty of goals, Ojetoye led by example from right back, combining defensive discipline with attacking threat. He notched 10 assists and one goal.

Harrison Uzondu – Left Back (Ikorodu City)

Joining his captain in the Team of the Season, Uzondu impressed on the left flank with consistent performances for Ikorodu City.

Highly technical, he provided attacking support and creativity from deep, often doubling as a wing back.

Nduka Junior – Centre Back (Remo Stars)

A constant presence in the Remo Stars defence, Nduka’s .

As captain of both club and Nigeria’s CHAN team, Nduka has stood out as one of the league’s best defenders, with his leadership and organisation were vital to Remo Stars' success

Ifeanyi Onyebuchi – Centre Back (Rangers)

Since moving from Plateau United, Onyebuchi has grown steadily, becoming a key figure in Rangers’ backline with his strength in duels and composure on the ball.

Rabiu Ali – Midfielder (Kano Pillars)

The veteran midfielder continues to shine at 43, orchestrating Pillars’ midfield with calm and precision.

Ali remains the team’s creative hub, delivering goals and assists. He scored 13 goals to help his side to a ninth placed finish.

Adedayo Olamilekan – Midfielder (Remo Stars)

One of the league’s unsung heroes, Olamilekan, was crucial to Remo Stars’ title win. Often underrated, he chipped in with seven goals and was a steady presence in midfield.

Isaac Saviour – Midfielder (Rangers)

The creative force in Rangers’ midfield, Saviour stood out in a challenging season for the Enugu club. Gifted with flair and a powerful shot, he scored nine goals and provided inspiration.

Sunday Megwo – Forward (Abia Warriors)

One of two Abia Warriors players in the team after the club’s impressive finish. Megwo isn’t flashy but is highly effective. With sharp movement and deadly finishing, he scored 13 league goals.

Antony Ijoma – Forward (Abia Warriors)

Partnering Megwo up front, Ijoma was equally influential, scoring 12 goals. The Togolese-Nigerian forward is strong, athletic, and capable of scoring from tight angles.

Anas Yusuf – Forward (Nasarawa United)

The league’s top scorer with 18 goals, Yusuf was crucial in keeping Nasarawa United up. He was also the only player to score two hat-tricks this campaign.

Coach: Dan Ogunmodede (Remo Stars)

Nicknamed ‘Ijaball,' Ogunmodede finally delivered Remo Stars’ first league title after narrowly missing out last season.

A smart tactician, he guided his team with an attacking style and earned 71 points, five more than Rivers United.
