Manchester United have successfully signed former Arsenal academy sensation Chido Obi Martin after intense speculation following his summer departure from the Emirates.

The 16-year-old striker left Arsenal in July after his youth contract expired. Known for his prolific goal-scoring ability, Obi Martin has long been a brilliant talent.

His most remarkable moment came last November when he single-handedly registered 10 goals in Arsenal U-16s’ shocking 14-3 demolition of Liverpool U16s.

By the end of the 2023 season, he had added an astonishing 32 goals in 18 appearances for the Arsenal U-18 team, competing against older opponents.

Obi Martin’s stunning form last season attracted interest from multiple clubs, but Manchester United swooped in, securing his signature after agreeing on a compensation deal with Arsenal.

A bright future for Obi Martin at Old Trafford

The Red Devils outmanoeuvred other suitors by offering the talented striker a clear pathway to the senior squad, which reportedly played a key role in his decision to make the move to Old Trafford.

Born in Copenhagen to a Danish mother and Nigerian father, Obi Martin relocated to England in 2020 and quickly established himself as one of Arsenal’s brightest academy prospects.

However, concerns over his progression to first-team football prompted the young striker to seek new opportunities. Following extensive negotiations that began in August, both clubs reached an agreement over a compensation fee.

The Premier League reportedly ratified the move, allowing Obi Martin to officially join Manchester United, where he will start his journey with the club’s U18 team.

The teenager, who has been hailed as one of the finest young talents in English football, expressed his delight at the move, stating, “I’m very happy to sign with Man United, an amazing club. It’s now time to focus and achieve all my dreams.”

Manchester United have high expectations for Obi Martin, believing he has the potential to become a future first-team star.
