Victor Olatunji returned to scoring form for Sparta Prague in their intense Prague derby against FK Dukla Prague. Despite Olatunji’s early goal, Sparta could not hold onto their lead, settling for a disappointing draw highlighting their inconsistency in the league.
The Nigerian striker opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a well-placed right-footed effort from the center of the box, assisted by Qazim Laçi.
Olatunji, who had gone two games without a goal—including matches against Teplice in the league and Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League—was lively throughout his 83 minutes on the pitch.
The Lagos-born forward remained a constant threat, taking seven attempts on goal. Two of his shots were on target, while three were blocked, and one went narrowly wide. He also showcased his aerial presence, winning four out of eight aerial duels, and provided one key pass during the game. However, his dribbling attempts were unsuccessful, and he lost possession eight times.
A busy performance from Olatunji
The striker completed 71% of his passes, connecting on five of seven attempts. Notably, he attempted one long ball, which was accurate, but he was unable to register a successful cross during the game.
The derby goal marked Olatunji’s fourth in the league this season in 14 appearances. While he has only started five matches, he has averaged 41 minutes per game, scoring at a frequency of one goal every 144 minutes.
His shooting accuracy stands at 0.8 shots on target per game, with a conversion rate of 14%. Despite his modest output, Olatunji has missed just one big chance, underlining his efficiency when opportunities arise.
Sparta Prague currently sit fourth in the league table after 16 matches, with eight wins, four draws, and four losses. Their goal difference stands at +8, with 28 goals scored and 20 conceded, leaving them 13 points adrift of the league leaders.
