Super Eagles right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel has expressed profound admiration for his current manager, José Mourinho.
Describing the Portuguese tactician as a father figure and the best coach he has worked with, Osayi-Samuel highlighted Mourinho’s transformative impact on his career within just five months under his guidance.
The Portuguese trainer assumed the role of Fenerbahçe's new manager in June, replacing İsmail Kartal at the Turkish giants and marking his 11th managerial position.
Fenerbahçe currently sits in second place in the Süper Lig, trailing defending champions Galatasaray by five points.
Osayi-Samuel praises Mourinho's impact and leadership style
In a recent interview with Brila, Bright Osayi-Samuel opened up about the profound influence of José Mourinho on his career.
The former Queens Park Rangers (QPR) and Blackpool man shared his admiration for the 61-year-old, describing him as a mentor who inspires growth and excellence.
“He’s like a father figure,” Osayi-Samuel revealed. “But if you get on his wrong side, he can be your biggest enemy. Overall, though, I love him so much.
“He’s done so much for me so far, and he’s the best manager I’ve ever had, and I have had him for less than six months. I just want to keep learning as much as possible under him and improve as a player.”
Osayi-Samuel has made eight appearances for the Turkish giants this season, starting seven and averaging 71 minutes per game.
With his current contract set to expire in June 2025, both the club and the player are at an impasse in contract renewal negotiations. Meanwhile, several clubs, including Aston Villa, Marseille, Everton, Fulham, and Crystal Palace, have been heavily linked with the player.
