Victor Osimhen’s commitment to Galatasaray’s fans

From the warmth of the supporters to the love shown by local staff, the striker’s sense of belonging in Istanbul has only deepened his commitment to the team.

However, there’s a deeper reason behind his relentless drive on the field. Osimhen shared that his motivation extends far beyond personal achievements.

He explained that whenever he steps onto the pitch, his focus is always on the fans—scoring goals and securing victories for them before anything else.

“That's why any time I go on the field, I want to first of all, play for them, get goals, as well as winning before my own personal ambition,” he said.

Recalling his early days at Galatasaray, Osimhen also shared valuable advice from Nigerian teammate Henry Onyekuru.

Onyekuru encouraged Osimhen to savour moments of victory, particularly after scoring, by celebrating with the fans.

Osimhen has since adopted the unique tradition of celebrating with the fans, where a special ritual follows every goal.

It’s a bond that has only intensified Osimhen’s motivation to score and continue excelling at Galatasaray.

“And they are used to do something, where you would allow them to scream a lot and then you tell them to be quiet, then you hit and move and clap three times and move your hands up and everything like that.”

“For me, these are moments that every of the players at the club cherish because the fans deserve the moment. So for me, it's really amazing,” Osimhen explained.
