Osimhen: Super Eagles star eyes 6th career trophy as Galatasaray plan huge bonus package

Published on by

Galatasaray have reportedly promised Victor Osimhen and his teammates a huge financial reward and extra time off if they defeat Antalyaspor and clinch the Turkish Süper Lig title on Saturday evening, Afrik-Foot reports.

The Istanbul giants head into the decisive match at RAMS Park with a four-point lead over fierce rivals Fenerbahçe and know that victory would secure a fourth straight league crown.

According to Turkish newspaper Fanatik, club president Dursun Özbek and the Galatasaray board have prepared a special bonus package for the players ahead of the crucial fixture.

The report claims that the squad will receive a €5 million bonus, worth around N8 billion in Nigerian currency, if they beat Antalyaspor and officially confirm the title.

Manager Okan Buruk is also expected to reward the players with four or five days off if the trophy is secured in front of their home supporters in Istanbul.
The planned break comes after Buruk cancelled an earlier holiday following Galatasaray’s surprise away defeat to Samsunspor, a result that briefly raised tension in the title race.

Osimhen has been one of the key figures behind Galatasaray’s push for another championship. The Nigeria striker has either scored or assisted in each of his last 11 Süper Lig appearances.

The former African Footballer of the Year already helped the club win the domestic double during his loan spell last season and is now close to adding another major honour to his growing collection.

Osimhen ready as Istanbul prepares for another title party

Galatasaray supporters are already preparing for what could become another massive celebration across Istanbul if the club complete the job against Antalyaspor.

The Turkish champions are famous for turning the city into a sea of yellow and red whenever they lift the league trophy.

During last season’s title celebrations, thousands of fans followed the team across the Bosphorus in boats while players celebrated on a private yacht surrounded by flares, flags and fireworks.

The club also organised an open-top bus parade through famous parts of Istanbul before ending the celebrations with a huge gathering at the Yenikapı Rally Area, where more than one million supporters attended the trophy ceremony.

At RAMS Park, supporters were treated to drone displays that lit up the night sky with images of club legends and symbols connected to Galatasaray’s historic success.

This season’s title race carries extra importance because Galatasaray are chasing what would be their 26th Turkish league crown.

Another league title would also move Osimhen closer to becoming one of the most successful Nigerian footballers of his generation.

The former Lille striker has already won the FIFA U-17 World Cup and the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations with Nigeria, as well as the Serie A title with Napoli. Another Süper Lig crown would add to a fast-growing shelf that welcomed the arrival of the league and cup double last term.
