Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu reached two important milestones on Sunday after scoring in Trabzonspor’s 2-1 away victory over Gaziantep FK in the Turkish Süper Lig, Afrik-Foot reports.
The Nigerian forward scored his 17th league goal of the season, continuing an outstanding campaign for the Black Sea club, who are pushing for the title under head coach Fatih Tekke.
Onuachu’s first-half strike also carried historic significance. The goal took his total tally for Trabzonspor to 35, making him the fifth-highest scoring foreign player in the club’s history.

He now sits behind legendary names such as Shota Arveladze, Anthony Nwakaeme, Davor Vugrinec, and Ibrahima Yattara on the club’s foreign scorers list.
It was another reminder of Onuachu’s importance to Trabzonspor’s attacking system. His latest goal means he has already surpassed the 15 league goals he managed during his previous loan spell in the 2023/24 season, showing clear improvement and consistency in front of goal.

Paul Onuachu: Longest scoring streak for Trabzonspor
The victory itself was decided during a dramatic five-minute spell in the first half.
Gaziantep opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Mohamed Bayo reacted quickest inside the penalty area to finish from close range and give the home side the lead.
Trabzonspor responded almost immediately. Just two minutes later, Felipe Augusto equalised with a confident left-footed strike from the right side of the box to level the score at 1-1.

The turnaround was completed in the 27th minute when Onuachu delivered the decisive moment. The 31-year-old positioned himself perfectly in the centre of the area before calmly finishing with his right foot to put Trabzonspor ahead, a goal that ultimately secured all three points.
Beyond the match result, the strike set another personal record. Onuachu has now scored in five consecutive Süper Lig matches, the longest scoring run of his Trabzonspor career across both spells at the club. His previous best sequence was four straight league games earlier in the season.
With 17 goals in just 20 league appearances, the Nigerian striker continues to rank among the division’s most dangerous forwards. More importantly for Trabzonspor, his reliability in front of goal is helping keep their title ambitions firmly alive as the season enters its decisive phase.
Trabzonspor sit in third place with 48 points after 23 games, seven points behind leaders Galatasaray.
