Super Eagles and Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu is closing in on a historic record following his goal against Galatasaray two days ago, Afrik Foot reports.
The lanky striker needed just four minutes to make his mark, scoring a brilliant solo strike that took his league tally to 22 goals for the season, keeping him firmly at the top of the Turkish Süper Lig scoring charts.
The 31-year-old’s goals account for roughly 40% of Trabzonspor’s 55 goals in 28 league outings.

Paul Onuachu on the brink of Trabzonspor record
The former Southampton striker is now closing in on two significant milestones in Trabzonspor’s history.
Norwegian striker Alexander Sørloth netted 24 league goals during the 2019/2020 campaign, while Georgian legend Şota Arveladze holds the club’s single-season foreign player record with 25 goals, set in 1995-1996.
With six league games still to play, Onuachu needs three more goals to surpass Sørloth and draw level with Arveladze. Four additional strikes would see him stand alone as Trabzonspor’s most prolific foreign player in a single season, according to Daily Sabah.

The pursuit of history caps a remarkable journey for Onuachu with Fatih Tekke’s side.
During a loan spell in the 2023/2024 season, Onuachu, on loan from Southampton, scored 15 goals in 21 league appearances, and that form convinced the club to secure his services permanently in July 2025.
Now in just his second full campaign, he has already surpassed that tally and is enjoying the second-most prolific season of his career.

Despite his goalscoring plaudits with Trabzonspor at club level, Paul Onuachu was a relative substitute for Akor Adams in Nigeria’s friendlies last month, despite Victor Osimhen’s absence.
