Nigeria star Jennifer Echegini is reportedly close to joining French D1 Arkema side Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The French side has been linked to the Nigerian international for some time now, and the deal is reportedly set to be finalised in the coming days.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who joined Juventus Women from Florida State Seminoles in January, had an excellent campaign with the Italian outfit, scoring 10 goals and providing one assist in just 16 matches as Juventus Women placed second in the recently ended season.

Her impressive campaign didn't go unnoticed, as she was named the best U-23 player in Serie A at the end of the season and also featured in the Serie A team of the season.

Echegini is understandably keen on joining the French club and requested a transfer last month, according to Tutto Juve.

Jennifer Echegini named in Super Falcons' Olympics squad

Meanwhile, the Juventus midfielder has been named in Randy Waldrum's final squad for the Paris 2024 Olympics, joining the likes of Rasheedat Ajibade and Asisat Oshoala

Waldrum’s side defeated South Africa by a lone goal in the first leg of the final qualifying round in Abuja before holding Banyana Banyana to a goalless draw in Pretoria on Tuesday to seal an Olympics spot, with Echegini in the attacking midfield spot.

Born in the Netherlands and raised in London, England, she switched allegiance to play for Nigeria. She was a member of the squad that reached the round of 16 in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Placed in Group C, Nigeria will face stiff competition from the reigning world champions, Spain, who are making their Olympics debut. Also, two-time Olympic silver medalists Brazil and London 2012 silver medalists Japan add to the formidable lineup of opponents.

Jennifer Echegini has made nine appearances for Nigeria and scored one goal, which came against New Zealand in an international friendly in April 2023.
