Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has expressed his admiration for Liverpool’s teenage sensation, Rio Ngumoha, Afrik-Foot reports.
Over the last few years, there has been a significant rise in the number of world-class young talents in football. In the English Premier League, two names stand out: Rio Ngumoha and Max Dowman.
While the former plays for Liverpool, the latter represents North London side Arsenal. Ngumoha and Dowman, aged 17 and 16 respectively, have shown the potential to become world-beaters.

Despite their youth, both have already played key roles in deciding matches for their respective sides.
Naturally, a debate has emerged among football fans, who are comparing the two to determine who possesses the higher ceiling.
However, Super Eagles veteran Alex Iwobi has weighed in with his own distinction. In a recent interview, when asked to choose between the two, Iwobi offered a perspective shaped by firsthand experience.

Having faced Ngumoha when Fulham played Liverpool recently, Iwobi admitted that while he previously held Dowman in high regard, the Liverpool whizkid left him in awe.
”Before, I would have said Max, but after playing against Rio this weekend… Rio is a handful,” Iwobi said.

The Race for Rio Ngumoha’s International Allegiance
Interestingly, Rio Ngumoha is of Nigerian descent. Born in England to Nigerian parents, he is eligible to represent England, Nigeria, and even France.
While he has already begun playing for the English youth setup, talks regarding a potential switch to Nigeria have intensified. A talent of his caliber would undoubtedly be a massive asset for the Super Eagles.

Iwobi’s testimonial shows just how gifted the youngster is; for a veteran of Iwobi’s standing to wax lyrical about a teenager is no small feat.
Ngumoha is quick on the ball, fearless, and a prolific dribbler with a clinical right foot that he uses to devastating effect.
Given the growing hype and high praise, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) must move decisively to secure his international future.
In just a few years, Ngumoha could represent a major upgrade for the Nigerian national team.
