Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke could be on his way to Belgian side Anderlecht from Sevilla in the coming weeks amid growing interest from the club this summer, Afrik-Foot reports.
Ejuke’s future has been surrounded by uncertainty in recent weeks, with Sevilla reportedly open to selling him as he enters the final year of his contract. The Spanish club are keen to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer and would rather cash in during this transfer window.
The 28-year-old joined Sevilla in 2024 following the expiration of his contract at CSKA Moscow. However, he has largely struggled for regular playing time since arriving in Spain, spending much of his time on the fringes of the first team and making most of his appearances from the bench.
Last season, the Super Eagles winger made 27 appearances across all competitions, although he started only six matches. Despite his limited role, he played his part as Sevilla successfully avoided relegation and retained their La Liga status.

Now, the Nigerian international is widely expected to leave this summer, with reports from Spain claiming Anderlecht are close to reaching an agreement on a deal worth up to €4 million and there are several reasons why the move could materialize.
Opportunity for regular playing time
Belgian giants Anderlecht are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season as they aim to challenge for the Belgian Pro League title and win their first league crown since the 2016-17 campaign.
One of the reasons behind their interest in Ejuke is his previous experience in Belgian football. The Nigerian enjoyed an impressive spell at Royal Antwerp before earning his move abroad, proving he is capable of adapting to the league.

His dribbling ability, pace and willingness to take on defenders also make him an attractive option for Anderlecht, who are looking to add more creativity to their attack.
From Ejuke’s perspective, the move presents an opportunity to become a regular starter once again after spending much of his time on the fringes at Sevilla. Regular playing time could also boost his chances of becoming an important figure under Eric Chelle in the Super Eagles setup ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations tournament qualifiers later this year.
Sevilla’s financial situation
While regular football is a major attraction for Ejuke, Sevilla also have strong reasons to sanction his departure.
The Spanish club continue to face financial challenges and are looking to generate funds through player sales. With Ejuke entering the final year of his contract, this summer represents their best opportunity to receive a transfer fee rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2027.
Having signed him as a free agent in 2024, any transfer fee Sevilla receive would represent pure profit and give the club more flexibility.

The funds gotten from his sale can be reinvested into strengthening the squad ahead of next season as Sevilla look to avoid another difficult campaign like the one they endured last term, when they narrowly escaped relegation following a strong finish to the season.
An agreement between both clubs could be reached in the coming days, potentially paving the way for Ejuke to return to Belgium for the next chapter of his career.
