Sadiq: Sinking La Liga giants elect Super Eagles forward as saviour

Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq has completed a loan move from Real Sociedad to Valencia, marking a fresh chapter in his career as he seeks to rediscover his best form.

The loan deal includes an option for Valencia to make the move permanent.

Sadiq, who has been with Real Sociedad since September 2022, struggled for game time this season, featuring in 11 matches across all competitions without finding the back of the net.

Despite being fit for weeks, he was unable to secure a starting role in Imanol Alguacil’s team, prompting the need for a new environment to reignite his career.

Can Valencia be Sadiq's new beginning?

Valencia’s head coach, Carlos Corberán, faces a daunting task to guide the club out of the La Liga relegation zone.

Currently 19th in the table with just 12 points from 18 matches, Los Che have had a dismal first half of the season.

A glaring issue has been their lack of goals, managing only 16 so far.

The arrival of Sadiq aims to address this shortcoming as Valencia look for inspiration to turn their season around.

The move also represents an opportunity for Sadiq to regain his confidence.

The 27-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance in the past, particularly at Almería, where he cemented his reputation as a potent attacker, prompting Real Sociedad to secure his services in 2022 on a deal running until 2028.

Unfortunately, Sadiq’s stint at Sociedad was marred by injuries, limiting his impact to just four goals and two assists across 50 appearances.

Despite being linked with Sevilla and Getafe in recent transfer windows, it is Valencia that have taken the gamble on the Nigeria international to help solve their attacking woes.
