Stanley Nwabali’s proposed transfer to South African giants Kaizer Chiefs is now unlikely to materialize, despite recent speculation linking the club with a move for the Super Eagles star, Afrik-Foot reports.
Nwabali has been a free agent since February, when he mutually terminated his contract with Chippa United. His departure came after years of persistent rumors linking him to various clubs across the continent and beyond.
When he left Chippa, the general expectation was that he already had a firm offer on the table and would secure a new home shortly after.

However, that has not been the case. Nearly two months after cutting ties with the Chilli Boyz, the Nigerian remains without a club.
Two weeks ago, reports emerged that Kaizer Chiefs were eyeing Nwabali as a replacement for Brandon Petersen, who had been sidelined following surgery for a health issue.
It was widely believed that the South African shot-stopper would be out for several months, creating an urgent need for the Amakhosi to sign another top-tier goalkeeper.
However, it now appears that the doors to Naturena may be closing for Nwabali.

Why Stanley Nwabali Might Not Join Kaizer Chiefs
According to Pan-African Football, Kaizer Chiefs’ first-choice goalkeeper Brandon Petersen is set to return to training much sooner than expected.
This is a massive boost for the Amakhosi, as the veteran South African keeper is a vital figure and a leader within the squad. With Petersen nearing a return to action, Kaizer Chiefs no longer feel the pressure to bring in a new goalkeeper before the end of the season.

Furthermore, although Petersen’s current contract is set to expire in the summer, the club is reportedly looking to extend his deal rather than replace him.
As things stand, Nwabali will likely have to look elsewhere if he hopes to return to competitive football in the near future.
