Super Eagles: 2 qualities Amedspor fans can expect from Yira Sor

Super Eagles winger Yira Sor has revealed the qualities Amedspor fans can expect to see from him following his move to the Turkish club earlier this summer, Afrik-Foot reports.

The 26-year-old completed his move to the newly promoted Turkish Super Lig side earlier this month, ending his spell with Belgian club Genk.

Sor scored 17 goals in 119 appearances for Genk before leaving the club after struggling for regular playing time in recent seasons. His progress was also affected by inconsistency as well as several fitness and injury concerns.

The winger made his Super Eagles debut in March, featuring in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against Jordan in an international friendly.

Sor made his Amedspor debut in the club’s first-ever Super Lig game, helping them to a 3-0 victory over Erzurumspor. He also featured in last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Kocaelispor.

However, he is yet to register a goal or assist in his first two appearances for the club. With the season still in its early stages, Sor has now explained what Amedspor supporters can expect from him as he continues to settle into his new surroundings.

There has been some concerns following Sor’s slow start to life at Amedspor, especially after failing to score or provide an assist in his opening two games.

However, the Super Eagles winger has asked fans to be patient, explaining that adapting to a new country and league takes time.

“I am gradually settling into life in the city and I like it already, and soon, the goals and assists will come surely,” Sor said, via Footy-Africa.

“Moving to a new country and a new league is usually not easy for any player, but I have been made to feel at home and welcome here, both by the fans and the management of the club.”

The former Genk winger also revealed that his pace and direct style of play are two qualities he regularly uses to take on defenders, create chances and get into dangerous positions.

He made it clear that his ambitions at Amedspor go beyond simply scoring goals, as he also wants to provide assists and help the team achieve its targets.

“It is still early days but I am sure that I will succeed here and make the fans smile. They should expect good things from me,” the Super Eagles winger continued.

“I like to consider myself as a fast and direct player who loves to set others up for goals and also score himself. Hopefully the goals and assists to help my team do well will come. I am confident about that.”

Sor will now be hoping to break his duck and open his account for Amedspor when they look to return to winning ways against Trabzonspor in a tough clash on Monday night.
