After spending a week in the United Arab Emirates, Nigeria's Super Eagles have finally arrived in Ivory Coast ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023) which kicks off this weekend.
Jose Peseiro and his troops travelled from Abu Dhabi to Lagos on Tuesday, January 9 before making the trip to Abidjan the next day. They donned the national colours (white Kaftan, adorned with green embroidery and white and green caps); reminiscent of what they wore a few years ago when they travelled to Russia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
What's next for the Super Eagles?
Nigeria's group games will take place in Abidjan and on that note, the team will stay at the Pullman hotel for the next couple of weeks. Additionally, should the Super Eagles make it past the group stages, their round of 16 games will be played in Abidjan.
Peseiro's men will square off against the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea in their opening game, which takes place on Sunday January 14 at the Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium. They'll proceed to meet hosts Ivory Coast on January 18, before playing their final group game against Guinea-Bissau on January 22.
