Super Eagles star ruled out of Arsenal’s clash against Fulham

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi will miss Fulham’s Premier League trip to the Emirates this weekend as they take on title-chasing Arsenal, Afrik Foot reports.

Fulham boss Marco Silva has confirmed that the Nigeria international remains sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained in the goalless draw against Brentford two weeks ago.

Iwobi, who came through Arsenal’s academy and made over 100 appearances for the North London club before his move away, was forced off before half-time in that encounter.

The setback ruled him out of Fulham’s win over Aston Villa last weekend, and he has not recovered in time to face his former employers.

Iwobi out of Fulham’s clash vs Arsenal

Iwobi is not the only concern for Silva ahead of the London derby. Ryan Sessegnon, who scored the winner against Aston Villa, has also been ruled out after picking up a knock in the same match.

The 25-year-old is expected to miss Fulham’s upcoming fixture against Bournemouth as well.

Summer signing Kevin remains unavailable due to a metatarsal bruise that has kept him out for several weeks.

Silva confirmed the situation in his pre-match press conference:

“Alex is still out, plus Kevin. Sessegnon is going to be out of the next game and probably the one after. Kenny Tete we will assess, but he could be involved,” the Portuguese said in quotes revealed by the Mirror.

The injury list represents a significant challenge for Fulham as they prepare to face an Arsenal side battling at the top of the table.

Boost for Mikel Arteta’s side

For Mikel Arteta and Arsenal, Iwobi’s absence removes one of Fulham’s most dynamic midfield outlets.

The Super Eagles star has enjoyed a productive campaign, offering energy, ball progression, and a passing range that breaks down opposition defences in Silva’s system.

Arsenal head into the weekend with the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table, with Manchester City not in league action until Monday.

Arteta’s side are seeking another crucial three points as the title race enters its decisive phase.
