“Scoring is good” – Super Eagles star speaks as Atletico Madrid put four past Barcelona

Published on by

Super Eagles and Atlético Madrid winger Ademola Lookman has praised his side’s collective display after their emphatic 4–0 win over Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg, Afrik Foot reports.

Lookman was on the scoresheet as Diego Simeone’s men stormed into a commanding position in the tie, putting one foot in the final with a ruthless first-half performance at the Metropolitano.

The Nigerian international, who has now scored twice in this season’s Copa del Rey, insisted the victory was built on teamwork rather than individual brilliance.

Lookman: What Super Eagles star said after Atletico won

“I’m very, very happy. Of course, scoring is good, but I think the team played really well tonight. In the box we were very professional, and today we showed a great level of teamwork,” Lookman told Sporty TV.

“You always want to score as an attacker, always looking to get into dangerous positions, so I just try to be in the right place at the right time.”

“Of course, it’s a big victory. But we have a few more games coming up before we play away, so we need to stay with the same mindset and focus on those matches, which will take us to the other semi-final. We are excited about the days to come,” he added.
