Super Eagles star on Barcelona radar after Yamal’s bold request

Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen could be at the centre of one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer, Afrik Foot reports.

Barcelona are currently in a dilemma with Robert Lewandowski set to exit Camp Nou at the end of the current campaign.

The Pole’s contract with the Catalans runs out in June and will not be renewed, leaving a gaping hole in Barca’s attack, as Ferran Torres hasn’t been reliable over the past few seasons.

Lamine Yamal backs Barcelona to sign Victor Osimhen

Reports in Spain have claimed that Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal has identified the Super Eagles striker as his ideal attacking partner.

With Barca already mapping out plans to reinforce their frontline ahead of next season, Osimhen’s name is now firmly in the conversation, and this time, with support coming from inside the dressing room.

As per Fichajes, Hansi Flick’s side are ready to invest heavily in a new striker, potentially in a deal worth around €100 million.

Several names are under consideration, including Julian Alvarez. However, Atletico’s €200m demands put the Argentine out of their reach.

Lamine Yamal has already become one of Europe’s most exciting attacking talents, scoring 22 goals and providing 17 assists in 43 games for the Catalan giants this season.

The 18-year-old believes Barca need a striker that can stretch defences and trouble the defenders, a description that fits Victor Osimhen perfectly.

The Galatasaray striker is also brilliant in the air, allowing Yamal to rack up more assists with crosses on the flank.

He also comes with a huge reputation, having won league titles and golden boot awards in Italy and Turkiye, raising the ceiling for the La Masia youngsters, and rekindling the dream of winning a Champions League for the first time since 2015.

While Lamine Yamal’s opinion is not binding, it does reflect a shared idea within the locker room, and it’ll be interesting to see how Barcelona step up their pursuit when the transfer window reopens.
