Maduka Okoye 7.3 rating vs Parma: Two key impacts for Super Eagles GK for Udinese

Published on by

Maduka Okoye saved a second-half penalty to help Udinese earn a 0-0 draw away to Parma in Serie A on Wednesday.

The Super Eagles goalkeeper earned a 7.3 rating from Sofascore after making five saves and keeping his first clean sheet of the 2026/27 league season.

Udinese had conceded 18 goals in their opening eight league games without keeping a clean sheet. They had also lost their previous six matches, making the result at the Stadio Ennio Tardini a welcome change.

Parma had a chance to take the lead in the 68th minute after a lengthy VAR review resulted in a penalty.

Adrián Bernabé took the spot-kick two minutes later, but Milan-linked Okoye guessed correctly and dived low to his left to save the midfielder’s left-footed effort.

The save kept Udinese in the game and denied Parma their clearest chance to score.

Okoye had also stopped a shot from Vincent Sierro earlier in the second half, diving low to deal with the Parma midfielder’s effort from outside the box.

The Nigeria international made two saves in total, one of which came from inside the box, as Udinese held on for a point.

Parma struggled to trouble him for much of the match, managing 6 shots, two of which were on target. Udinese had 14 attempts, with five testing the opposition goalkeeper.

Super Eagles goalkeeper earns second-highest Udinese rating

Per SofaScore, Maduka Okoye’s 7.3 rating was the second-highest among Udinese players, level with Jürgen Ekkelenkamp. Defender Matteo Palma topped the team’s ratings with 7.6.

Udinese had 53 per cent possession and completed 86 per cent of their passes, compared with Parma’s 47 per cent possession and 75 per cent passing accuracy.

The draw ended Udinese’s run of six consecutive defeats and gave them their first clean sheet of the Serie A season.

Okoye’s performance was also a welcome return to form after a difficult start to the Italian top-flight campaign. His penalty save proved crucial in securing a point for his side.

Udinese will face AS Roma on Saturday, with Okoye hoping to keep another clean sheet as they look to build on Wednesday’s result.
