Super Eagles: Two possible scenarios for Ejuke amid Sevilla uncertainty

Published on by

Super Eagles forward Chidera Ejuke faces an uncertain future at Spanish side Sevilla heading into the 2026/27 season, Afrik-Foot reports.

Ejuke’s future has been up in the air throughout the summer, with no decision made so far ahead of the new season, leaving the Nigerian forward unsure of what lies ahead.

The 28-year-old joined Sevilla from CSKA Moscow in 2024 but has never really established himself as a regular at the club and has mostly been limited to a fringe role.

Sevilla had hoped to move him on this summer and make a profit from his departure after signing him for free. However, negotiations with interested clubs, particularly Anderlecht, failed to produce an agreement, with the Belgian club eventually backing out because of the demands made by the Super Eagles star.

According to reports, Ejuke’s future remains unresolved, although there are two possible scenarios that could still play out before the summer transfer window closes.

Ejuke stays at Sevilla and leaves for free next summer

One major scenario is for Ejuke to remain at Sevilla for the final year of his contract and leave the club as a free agent next summer.

That would mean the Super Eagles star stays at Sevilla for the entire 2026/27 season and fulfils the final year of his contract.

Ejuke missed pre season but has now resumed training with the rest of the team and could be incorporated back into the squad.

If he is brought back into the team, he could still become an important player for Sevilla during the season. However, if an agreement over a contract extension is not reached, he could leave the club for free next summer when his contract expires.

At that point, Ejuke would be free to join any club of his choice.

Super Eagles star gets a transfer this summer

Another possibility is for Ejuke to secure a move away from Sevilla before the summer transfer window closes.

There are still some days left in the transfer window, meaning there is time for a deal to be reached. Ejuke could lower his salary demands, while Sevilla could also accept a transfer fee closer to what interested clubs are willing to pay.

If that happens, the Super Eagles winger would change clubs this summer and begin the next chapter of his career elsewhere.

Such a move would bring an end to his two year stay at Sevilla and give him the opportunity to start afresh at another club.

The next few days will therefore be very important for Ejuke, with a decision on his future potentially determining where he continues his career for the 2026/27 season.
