Habeeb Ogunneye asked to use Man United’s academy dressing room despite flirting with first-team

Super Eagles-eligible Habeeb Ogunneye, along with another Manchester United player, has not been assigned a place in the Red Devils' first-team dressing room, despite being called up for significant matches by manager Erik Ten Hag.

The 18-year-old right-back was on the bench during United's 3-1 defeat to their neighbors Manchester City last weekend.

Ogunneye is eagerly awaiting his debut, after being named on the bench for the first time last Wednesday. This occurred as the Red Devils secured a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, advancing to the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Despite being part of United's squad for those two away trips, Ogunneye still prepares for training sessions in the Under-18s' dressing room.

Ten Hag's remarks on Habeeb Ogunneye and other United youngsters

United's future looks promising, according to manager Ten Hag, who expressed optimism about the club's young talents. “The future for Manchester United is very good because we have high potentials,” he said.

“They are together and want to play football with adventure and enjoyment.” Ten Hag emphasised the importance of continuity in the development process, stating, “If we keep this process going I am sure we will achieve high levels. We are building a team, we signed young players, and we give them opportunities.”

Acknowledging the challenges inherent in such a process, the Dutch manager highlighted the role of experienced players in guiding the younger generation: “This is a process with ups and downs and we have to realise this. Our experienced players will help them and we need them and they will help the young players perform.”
