Trabzonspor defender Chibuike Nwaiwu has emerged as one of the most sought-after Nigerian defenders in Europe this summer, with Premier League side Fulham pushing hard to secure his signature, Afrik-Foot reports.

According to Footy-Africa, Fulham have tabled an offer worth around €28 million for the 22-year-old, while Trabzonspor continue to insist on a €30 million fee.

The Turkish club remain under no pressure to sell, with Nwaiwu tied to a long-term contract until 2030 after arriving from Wolfsberger for €5.5 million in January.

The defender is understood to be keen on a move to Craven Cottage but is unwilling to force an exit, leaving negotiations delicately poised.

Now, Footy-Africa reports Fulham’s latest proposal stands, which remains firmly €30 million.

From the Turkish club’s perspective, the situation is straightforward. They signed Nwaiwu for €5.5 million only months ago, watched him establish himself as one of the Süper Lig’s standout defenders, and believe his market value has risen accordingly.

Unless Fulham significantly improve their proposal, Trabzonspor have little incentive to soften their stance.

2. Competition from other Premier League clubs

Fulham are not operating alone. Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur have all been credited with monitoring Nwaiwu’s progress, while Trabzonspor know additional interest could strengthen their negotiating position.
