The Super Eagles of Nigeria lost 2-0 to Guinea on Monday in a pre-Afcon friendly at the Baniyas stadium at Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Aguibou Camara put the Syli National in the 14th minute before Facinet Conte scored after the interval to put the game to bed. The result means the Super Eagles are winless in their last four games heading into AFCON 2023.

Can Jose Peseiro lead Super Eagles to glory?

It was another below-par display from the Super Eagles and the Nigerian fans took to social media to unleash their displeasure at Jose Peseiro and his charges.

Fans swamped social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday afternoon as they struggled to find any positives from the Nigeria performance, and did not hold back.

Despite the defeat, some fans are optimistic of their chances in Ivory Coast.

Huge blow for Nigeria with Victor Boniface injured

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen was an unused sub but Victor Boniface missed the game through injury. According to reports, the Bayer Leverkusen striker sustained an injury at training and has been ruled out of the tournament.

The Super Eagles are expected to jet off to Ivory Coast on Wednesday, January 10. They will compete with Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast and Equatorial Guinea. They begin their campaign against Guinea-Bissau on January 14.
