Super Eagles winger Yira Sor could soon be on his way out of Belgian club Genk this summer amid growing uncertainty surrounding his long-term future at the club, Afrik-Foot reports.
The 25-year-old’s future has come under fresh doubt ahead of another transfer window, and it now appears unlikely that he will extend his stay. As things stand, a summer exit looks increasingly possible as speculation around his next move continues to grow.
Sor joined Genk in 2023 after a brief spell with Czech Republic champions Slavia Prague and initially became an important part of the squad. However, his role has since reduced following an injury during the 2024–25 season, which has kept him on the fringes and cost him a regular place in the team.
He has made 119 appearances across all competitions for Genk since arriving, including 43 appearances last season. However, he started only 15 of those games, scoring six goals in all competitions.

The Super Eagles winger was already linked with a move away last summer, although no transfer materialized and he eventually stayed. He has also previously expressed a desire to remain at the club, but if nothing changes, he could finally move on after three years in Belgium.
Sor faces competition as Genk complete move for Jeppe Erenbjerg
Reports from Belgium confirm that Genk have completed the signing of Danish versatile forward Jeppe Erenbjerg, who will officially join the club as the summer transfer window opens.
The 26-year-old arrives from Zulte Waregem as part of a major squad overhaul ahead of next season, with Genk aiming to challenge for their first league title since the 2018–19 campaign after coming close in recent years.

Erenbjerg made 35 appearances for Zulte Waregem in the 2025–26 season, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists. His versatility and ability to play multiple attacking roles were key reasons behind Genk’s decision to invest in his signing.
Where does this leave the Super Eagles star?
Yira Sor first made his mark in the Czech Republic with Baník Ostrava before moving to Slavia Prague, where he continued to develop his reputation. Genk quickly moved to secure his signature after identifying his potential in 2023.
While he initially impressed in Belgium, injuries and inconsistency have disrupted his progress, and he has gradually slipped down the pecking order. Although his talent is not in doubt, his output has raised concerns.
In 119 appearances for Genk, the Super Eagles forward has scored only 17 goals across all competitions, which is one of the reasons he has fallen out of favour at the club.

The arrival of the Erenbjerg is expected to further reduce Sor’s importance in the squad, and Genk could now be open to letting him leave. With his contract expiring at the end of next season, the club may prefer to cash in now rather than risk losing him for free, especially as he is now seen as surplus to requirements.
Sor is valued at around €3 million by Transfermarkt and a deal could be done for his signature around that fee. The Super Eagles forward has already attracted interest from clubs in Turkey and the German Bundesliga and could now be preparing for the next phase of his career at a new club.
