Super Eagles forward Cyriel Dessers has set his sights on reaching new heights with the national team after scoring against Ghana, expressing a deep desire to feature in a major international tournament with the West African nation.
Dessers found the net in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over West African rivals Ghana in the semi-final of the Unity Cup, held at the G-Tech Community Stadium on Wednesday.
The goal marked his third in seven appearances for the Super Eagles and his second against Ghana, having also scored against them in a previous encounter last year.

The Rangers striker, who has already experienced memorable moments in national colours, now dreams of adding to them by helping the team secure silverware on the big stage.
Dessers hopes to lead Super Eagles to success on the biggest stage
In the aftermath of the game, Dessers voiced his strong desire to achieve international success with the Super Eagles.
“Obviously, when you get the call, you want to go,” he told Soccernet NG. “I’ve already had a few beautiful moments with the national team, but I hope to add more. I hope to play in big tournaments. It would be a dream, it would almost complete my career if I could go to a major tournament with Nigeria, with the Super Eagles, and hopefully win something there.”

The 30-year-old is coming off a prolific club season, having scored 29 goals in 55 appearances for Scottish giants Rangers.
He has carried that impressive form onto the international stage and is now determined to cement his place in Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles squad, having been overlooked in recent call-ups.
