Nigeria international Moses Simon will resume training with the Nantes first team on Wednesday, June 3, after being granted two extra days on his holidays.

The 28-year-old has not played any football since March after fracturing his fibula during the Super Eagles' 2-0 loss to Mali in an international friendly.

During the game against the Eagles of Mali, Moses collided with the opposition’s goalkeeper in the 33rd minute. This caused him to be taken off the pitch, and he was replaced by Cyril Dessers.

The initial prognosis on the injury didn’t indicate a severe issue, but after thorough tests, it was revealed that he had significant damage to his fibula, sidelining him for about four months.

The injury meant he missed the Super Eagles' FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin, as well as the remainder of his Ligue 1 season with Nantes.

Moses Simon has been in Nigeria on holidays and has continued his rehabilitation. During this period, he also engaged in his customary charity work, distributing footballs and other sports gear to grassroots footballers.

He donated eight sets of jerseys and 200 balls to his home state football association, the Benue State Football Association.

Simon will now join the rest of the Nantes squad, who resumed training on Monday, after being granted a two-day extension to his holidays as they prepare for the upcoming league season.

Last season, before his injury, Simon played 22 games, scored three goals, and provided six assists. Nantes finished the league in 14th place on the 18-team table, narrowly avoiding relegation.

They amassed 33 points from 34 games, avoiding the drop by four points.
