Super Eagles’ newly invited defender Gabriel Osho says he is excited to finally join the Nigerian squad and hopes to make his debut this international window.
The 26-year-old former Luton Town defender was called up in March, but was unable to join the camp due to injury.
However, he has been named in the 23-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.
Osho ready to give his all for the Super Eagles
Osho is now with the team in Abidjan as they prepare for Thursday’s game, and he considers it a privilege to be among what he describes as “fantastic footballers.”
“I have been invited before, but I couldn’t come because of injury,” Osho said. “But this time, when everything aligned, I was just so grateful to finally join the team.”
“I will work as hard as I can. That’s what the fans expect in every single game. Everyone here is talented. I plan to give my best and work hard.”
“Just look at the front line, and you’ll see big names—all talented players. This country has so many skilled players, and it’s a great honour because I know there are many others out there too.”
The versatile defender, who can play as a right-back or centre-back, has been in good form for Auxerre in Ligue 1 this season, featuring in nine matches.
Osho will be hoping to make his Nigeria debut when the Super Eagles take on the Cheetahs on Thursday at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan as Nigeria seeks to secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
