Barcelona attacker Karim Adeyemi has expressed his delight with his side’s 4-1 victory over Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

The striker got off the bench to score the fourth for his side to ensure that the Catalans left Istanbul with a win.

Adeyemi is of Nigerian origin, and after the game, he spoke about having another Nigerian, Victor Osimhen on the pitch. The Barcelona man admitted that it is a thing of joy to see Nigerians performing at a top level. However, he was happy that his teammates did a good job on Osimhen.

“It’s always nice to see Nigerian players on the big stage. I always feel happy for them, but I think our defence did a great job yesterday, and it was very hard for him to make any serious impact”, Adeyemi told Soccernet.ng.

“You see how we play, with a winning mentality, and our performance shows we want to win everything. You see this in every match. No retreat. No surrender.”

Ademola Lookman scored the second goal for Atletico Madrid to help them defeat Manchester United 2-0 at the Estadio Metropolitano on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old reached three career milestones with the win against Manchester United. First, it was his first victory over the club in four meetings. It was also his first goal against the Red Devils in the UEFA Champions League. Then, it took him to nine Champions League goals.

Lookman is now Nigeria’s joint second-highest goalscorer in the Champions League with Obafemi Martins. Victor Osimhen remains number one with 16 goals.
