Super Eagles ratings: Ilenikhena outshines Ronaldo, Osimhen, Onuachu rain goals in Turkey

Club football resumed over the weekend, with several Super Eagles stars returning to action for their respective clubs, Afrik-Foot reports.

​From Europe to the Middle East, Nigerian internationals featured prominently abroad. While some made an immediate impact, others struggled to deliver.

​Here is how Afrik-Foot rated their performances:

​George Ilenikhena Outshines Ronaldo — 9.0/10

​Not many players get the opportunity to outshine Portuguese icon Cristiano Ronaldo, but George Ilenikhena did just that.

​Leading the line for Al Ittihad at King Abdullah Sports City against Al Nassr, the Nigerian striker netted a decisive brace in a 2-1 victory over the reigning champions. Ilenikhena was at his clinical best, scoring in the 4th and 22nd minutes.

He now boasts five goals in his last five matches, proving well worth the €30 million Al Ittihad paid Monaco for his signature earlier this year.

​Ronaldo played the full 90 minutes but could not find the back of the net.

​Victor Osimhen Strikes Again — 8.0/10

​Victor Osimhen was on target for Galatasaray in their first Istanbul derby of the season against Istanbul Basaksehir.

​The 27-year-old opened the scoring with a sublime strike from outside the box. The ball crashed against the underside of the crossbar and bounced out, requiring a VAR check to confirm it had crossed the line. Remarkably, it was only his second long-range goal in seven seasons.

​Unfortunately, Osimhen was forced off after just 33 minutes with a muscle injury that will sideline him for three weeks. Galatasaray’s attack noticeably blunted following his exit, raising questions about how they will cope during his absence.

​Paul Onuachu Ends Goal Drought — 9.0/10

​Paul Onuachu emphatically snapped his 10-game goal drought for Trabzonspor on Sunday, scoring twice in the first half to put his side in command.

​His first arrived via a trademark towering header, followed by a tidy tap-in off Wagner Pina’s low cross. However, Onuachu’s afternoon was cut short in the 44th minute when he was substituted with an apparent muscle strain.

​Another Solid Outing for Semi Ajayi — 7.0/10

​Semi Ajayi delivered another composed performance for Hull City as they held Aston Villa to a goalless draw at the MKM Stadium, preserving their unbeaten start to the campaign.

​Playing the full 90 minutes, Ajayi registered 35 touches, seven progressive carries, and one recovery. His aerial dominance and composure continue to anchor a Tigers backline that remains unbreached after three Premier League fixtures.

​Alex Iwobi Hits Milestone in Fulham Defeat — 7.1/10

​Super Eagles duo Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey featured for Fulham in their home clash against Crystal Palace at Craven Cottage. Bassey completed the full 90 minutes, while Iwobi was withdrawn after 83.

123 appearances for Everton
100 appearances for Fulham

​The match marked Iwobi’s 100th Premier League appearance for the Cottagers. He looked lively and progressive in possession, earning a 7.1 match rating. Bassey, however, endured a difficult outing at the back as Palace struck three times past the Fulham defence, leaving him with a 6.0 rating.

​Frank Onyeka & Taiwo Awoniyi — 6.5/10

​Frank Onyeka and Taiwo Awoniyi both started for Coventry City as they succumbed to another defeat, this time away to Manchester City.

​Arriving at the Etihad having already dropped points against Arsenal and fellow newly promoted side Hull City, Coventry were widely tipped for a heavy defeat against the former champions. Instead, they mounted a respectable fightback.

​Awoniyi was a physical handful, highlighting his display with an impressive mazy run in the first half, though he was unable to carve out a clear-cut opening. Onyeka supplied his customary work rate across 63 minutes of action, but their collective efforts were not enough to prevent defeat.
