Out of form Super Eagles striker celebrates Arsenal’s UCL win vs Atletico

Super Eagles and Werder Bremen striker Victor Boniface was a full Gunner last night as Arsenal defeated Atletico Madrid in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League, Afrik Foot reports.

Penalty kick goals from Viktor Gyokeres and Julian Alvarez at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano in the first leg set up a scintillating clash at the Emirates for the second leg.

It was a cagey affair in London, but Bukayo Saka managed to get on the end of a Jan Oblak parry, and that was enough for Mikel Arteta’s side to get into the final, Arsenal’s first since 2006.

Victor Boniface celebrates Arsenal’s UCL win vs Atletico

The Bayer 04 Leverkusen loanee has struggled with injuries this season, with his last game on the pitch coming back in the first week of December.

However, he has not stopped being vocal on social media, and he made his joy known after Arsenal reached the final last night.

In the course of the game, like every Gunner, Boniface was anxious, tweeting – ‘Almost there!’

After the final whistle, he was delighted Arsenal got it over the line, putting out a tweet that translates to ‘That’s the team I’ve been supporting since I was young’.

In a previous interview on the Obi One Podcast, the Bayer Leverkusen loanee mentioned he’s always been an Arsenal fan.

“For me, right from a young age, I’ve supported Arsenal all my life.”
