Super Eagles striker breaks silence after scoring in Celtic’s win over Dundee

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho was the hero for Celtic as they sealed a 2-1 win over Dundee United this evening, Afrik Foot reports.

The 29-year-old has been out of the starting lineup after suffering recurring hamstring tears back in December.

Being a fringe player on the sidelines, there were talks about Celtic throwing Iheanacho to the cold by not renewing his deal.

However, the Manchester City man could’ve salvaged his future by pushing the Celts to within three points of Rangers today.

Kelechi Iheanacho delighted with Celtic goal vs Dundee

After playing just 57 minutes in the whole of March, Martin O’Neill threw Iheanacho on in the 58th minute against Dundee.

Eight minutes from full-time, that decision made sense as the former Leicester City striker tapped home from Marcelo Sarrachi’s cross to seal a win for Celtic, but he was releaved to be on the scoresheet more than anything.

“It feels good to help the team to get the win today. We really showed character and we really worked hard today to get the win,” the one-time FA Cup winner told Celtic’s official website.

“I think, especially in the first-half, we blew them away and had a few chances, but unfortunately it didn’t click.

“In the second-half they came back and scored the penalty,  but at the end we got the points which is massive.

“I’ve been out for a while so it feels good to be back and to help the team get the win, so I’m happy,” the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner concluded.

Iheanacho’s goal against Dundee was his first since October 5th, where he netted in Celtic’s 3-2 win over Motherwell.
