Tanzanian side Singida Black Stars have officially exonerated Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie of match-fixing allegations that were recently leveled against him, Afrik-Foot reports.
Last week, the Tanzanian giants announced a three-month suspension for Obasogie while he was under investigation for alleged match manipulation.
Prior to that announcement, the 26-year-old had been a mainstay for the club, featuring regularly in both domestic league matches and continental competitions.

From the onset, Obasogie maintained his innocence, denying the accusations and asserting that the errors he was accused of making were simply honest mistakes on the pitch.
The gravity of the situation had briefly left his international future in doubt, particularly given the growing competition for the Super Eagles’ starting goalkeeper spot.

On Saturday morning, Singida Black Stars released the official findings of their investigation, confirming that the Nigerian shot-stopper had been cleared of all wrongdoing.
The club’s inquiry into his performances against Flambeau du Centre, Pamba Jiji, and Namungo FC concluded that the errors were purely unintentional technical lapses. Management also noted their satisfaction with Obasogie’s formal apology to his teammates, the fans, and the board.
In an official statement, the club’s CEO, Jonathan Kassano, clarified the resolution:
”After the preliminary investigation, the player’s defense, and a verification report from the Club’s General Manager, it has been established that there is no evidence of match-fixing or gambling. The incidents that raised concerns were found to be technical errors within the game.
In consideration of this, the Club has decided to overturn the initial decision to suspend him for three months, and the player has been allowed to continue with his duties in the squad.”
Relief for the Super Eagles

With the air cleared, the former Bendel Insurance captain has been cleared to resume his first-team duties immediately. This development serves as a massive relief for Obasogie, who has been a consistent presence in recent Nigeria squads.
As the international windows approach, regaining his starting spot in Tanzania will be vital for his continued selection by Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle. But with Obasogie back playing, Chelle will be relieved, especially as Stanley Nwabali is yet to get a club.
