Umar Sadiq: Sociedad unmoved by Super Eagles striker despite Valencia heroics

Nigeria international Umar Sadiq has been asked to find a new club this summer. Real Sociedad, who have the striker under contract, have made it clear that they will not be relying on him for the 2025/26 campaign.

The 28-year-old has endured a difficult time at San Sebastian since joining from Almeria in the summer of 2022. However, he spent the latter half of the 2025/25 season on loan at fellow LaLiga outfit Valencia, and was instrumental in their successful battle against relegation.

In all, he scored six goals in 19 appearances in all competitions for Los Che.

Where will Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq wind up this summer?

In spite of his impressive performances for Valencia, the six-time Spanish champions opted against exercising their buy option for the centre-forward.

However, any notion that he could be reintegrated into the Real Sociedad side under new manager Sergio Francisco has now been shot down, according to local media

The Basque club are hoping for a transfer fee in the region of €10 million for Sadiq, but are even willing to hear out smaller bids in hopes of getting the 12-cap Super Eagles striker out the door.

So far, Getafe have indicated an interest in signing the former Roma starlet.
