English side London City Lionesses have officially announced the signing of Super Falcons defender Rofiat Imuran on a three-year deal.
The 20-year-old Nigeria international joins London City Lionesses after a successful tenure in the French Arkema Première Ligue with Stade de Reims.
During her time with the club, she made 30 league appearances and played a key role in helping the Red and Whites achieve consecutive top-six finishes over two successful seasons in the league.
Known for her strong defensive capabilities, Imuran also proved to be a formidable presence in the opposing box, scoring eight goals during her time at Stade de Reims.
The Nigerian player joined first-team training earlier this week and will be available for selection on Sunday as Jocelyn Prêcheur’s team faces Charlton Athletic at Hayes Lane in the Women’s Championship.
First words from Super Falcons defender Imuran after signing
In her first comments after signing with London City Lionesses, Rofiat Imuran expressed her enthusiasm for joining the club and embarking on a new chapter in her career.
“I’m very excited to join London City Lionesses and start a new chapter in my career in England. Everyone has been so welcoming since I arrived, and I look forward to being able to help the team on the pitch,” she said as per the club's official website.
“I wanted to come to London City because the coach presented an interesting project and I wanted a different challenge.”
In discussing the signing the Super Falcons flying left-back, Prêcheur stressed the team's focus on blending experience with youth.
He said, “(Rofiat) already has brilliant experience, and playing at the Under-20 World Cup was a wonderful opportunity for her to learn more. She’s very fast, left-footed, and likes to attack the space behind the defenders.”
Imuran represented the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and also played for the Falconets at the 2024 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
