Super Falcons dominate: Nigeria’s 7 biggest victories in WAFCON history

Nigeria’s Super Falcons are, by a wide margin, the most successful team in Women’s Africa Cup of Nations history, Afrik-foot reports.

They have a record 10 titles and a perfect record in finals, and it does not seem like that dominance will end anytime soon, as Nigeria continues to churn out quality female footballers.

The Super Falcons’ dominance has been built on some genuinely emphatic scorelines over the years. Here, we write about the ten biggest wins in Super Falcons WAFCON history.

1. Nigeria 8-0 Morocco (1998)

The Super Falcons announced themselves in the tournament’s first-ever official edition with a demolition of Morocco in the opening match on home soil – still the biggest winning margin in WAFCON history nearly three decades later.

2. Nigeria 6-0 Zambia (2014)

Long before Zambia’s Copper Queens became genuine African heavyweights, Nigeria put six past them without reply in 2014 – part of a dominant head-to-head record between the two nations.

3. Nigeria 6-0 Cameroon (1998, semi-final)

Nigeria’s rampant run to their first-ever title continued in the last four, brushing aside Cameroon 6-0 en route to a final meeting with Ghana.
