Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has expressed his delight after netting his 20th league goal of the season in Trabzonspor’s 3-1 victory over Kayserispor on Monday, Afrik-Foot reports.
The 31-year-old was the hero at the Kadir Has Stadium, scoring twice in first-half stoppage time to set the tone for his side. Those goals proved decisive as the Black Sea Storm cruised to a 3-1 win, earning Onuachu a well-deserved Man of the Match award.
The victory moves Trabzonspor to 54 points, cementing their hold on third place. They now sit seven points behind league leaders Galatasaray and just three points adrift of second-placed Fenerbahçe.

On a personal level, Onuachu’s brace took his tally to 20 goals for the current Super Lig campaign, extending his lead at the top of the scoring charts. He now sits four goals clear of his closest rival, Eldor Shomurodov.
Furthermore, his goals ensured he matched Burak Yılmaz’s long-standing record for the longest goalscoring streak by a Trabzonspor player.
Equaling a landmark set by one of the league’s most legendary strikers underscores Onuachu’s immense impact since arriving in Trabzon.

Speaking after his historic performance, Onuachu shared his excitement about reaching the 20-goal mark while emphasizing his desire to push even further.
”I can say I’m happy. Since I arrived, people have been asking me, ‘How many goals are you going to score?’ I try to score as many as possible in every match. Twenty goals are not easy to achieve,” Onuachu remarked.
Despite the individual accolades, the Nigerian international was quick to share the spotlight with his teammates, crediting them for the club’s recent success.
”We have to give credit to the whole team. My teammates helped me a lot. They deserve a big share of the credit for these goals,” he added.

This season marks the first time Onuachu has surpassed the 20-goal threshold since his prolific 2021/22 campaign with Genk.
With ten matches remaining in the season, the forward will be eager to add to his tally and help Trabzonspor secure a strong finish at the summit of the Super Lig.
