Taiwo Awoniyi could be on the move during the summer transfer window, with Nottingham Forest reportedly willing to listen to offers for the Super Eagles striker, Afrik-Foot reports.
The 28-year-old forward signed a contract extension that runs until 2027 after recovering from the serious abdominal injury he suffered during the closing stages of the 2024/25 season. The injury required emergency surgery and temporarily raised concerns about his football future before he made a successful return to action.
The standout moment of the campaign for Taiwo Awoniyi was when he netted a fantastic brace to power Forest to a stunning win at Chelsea.
However, Awoniyi now faces a different challenge at the City Ground with Nottingham Forest open to a sale, as per SkySports. Forest manager Vitor Pereira has several attacking options available, with veteran striker Chris Wood continuing to play a major role after an impressive campaign. The arrival of Brazilian forward Igor Jesus has also increased competition for places in the final third.

Forest are also conscious of Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Having previously received a four-point deduction for breaching financial regulations, the club are keen to maintain a healthier financial position. A profitable sale of Awoniyi could help balance the books while creating room for further squad adjustments ahead of the new season.
Despite his injury struggles, the former Union Berlin striker remains an attractive option because of his Premier League experience, physical strength, pace and ability to lead the line on his own.

Taiwo Awoniyi: Possible destinations for Nigeria and Nottingham Forest star
West Ham United appear to be the strongest Premier League candidate should Forest decide to sell. The London club have tracked Awoniyi for several years and continue to look for greater power and mobility in attack. His ability to hold up possession, attack spaces behind defenders and operate as a lone striker fits the profile West Ham have often preferred.
Everton could also enter the conversation. The Merseyside club have regularly searched for reliable attacking options capable of handling the physical demands of the Premier League. Awoniyi’s aerial presence, pressing intensity and willingness to battle defenders would suit a side that frequently relies on direct football and quick transitions.

A return to Germany should not be ruled out either. Union Berlin remains closely linked to Awoniyi because of the success he enjoyed during his Bundesliga spell. Before joining Forest in a £17 million move, he scored goals consistently for the German club and became one of their most important attacking players. His familiarity with the club’s environment, playing style and supporters could make a reunion attractive for both sides.
While no transfer is currently close to completion, West Ham, Everton and Union Berlin stand out as the most logical destinations if Nottingham Forest decide to cash in on the Super Eagles forward this summer.
